Mangalore, Feb 9: The Mangalore Custom House Agent Association conducted
special training programme for the traders and members of MCHAA, who are transacting trade business at new Mangalore port and customs commissionerate of Mangalore, here at the conference hall of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mangalore, recently.
The commissioner of customs Ajith Kumar, IRS inaugurated the programme. The president of KCCI G G Mohandas Prabhu was the guest of honour. Phillip CC president of CHAA welcomed the gathering.
Ajith, commissioner of customs, mentioned that the relationship between the custom house agents and customs is of a different nature where as custom house agent is the main link in the trade for importers and exporters and customs in practising the procedures of customs and collection of revenue for the country. Customs have peculiar role with custom house agent where one side it cooperates and allows the CHA to work in the customs as friends, and in another angle, it is ready to take severe action and impose fine and penalty if anything goes wrong against Customs Act and regulations, he added. He assured full support for CHA of Mangalore.
The president of Kanara chamber informed the progress in work for extending the infrastructure at Mangalore Airport for declaring the customs station for import and export at airport. He also mentioned that the ministry is very happy with Mangalore trade and promised sufficient fund for the development of trade and passengers at the airport. Charles Stephen secretary of CHAA proposed the vote of thanks.
The workshop on ‘Re-charge Skills for a better execution of Work" was also conducted on the occasion.
In all, 80 participants attended the programme. The participants were given a certificate for their participation. The vice-president CHAA Edward Ceolho proposed the vote of thanks.
