Sullia, Feb 9: Ismail, a Muslim leader residing at Nelyamajal in Nelyady, has shown the way for others by contributing to the noble cause of religious harmony. A shrine dedicated to Rakteshwari Daiva has come up at the site donated by him for the purpose.
The Brahmakalashotsava of the shrine was conducted recently. Ismail happens to be the honorary president of the Renovation Committee of this shrine.
Ismail had some time back, bought a 4.5 acres plot at Kolambala in Bellare village in the taluk. While clearing the land of shrubs and other growth, he found remnants of an ancient Daivasthana there. During enquiries with the people living in the neighbourhood, he was told that a Rakteshwari shrine existed here in the past. He took initiative to conduct a divine query through the astrological ‘Ashtamangala’ procedure, and was told about the existence of an ancient Daivasthana at the place, its background, history, etc.
Ismail agreed to donate 30 cents land for building the shrine out of the land bought by him. A renovation committee under the leadership of local leader, Diwakar Rai, was formed. Ismail was made the honorary president of this committee. The shrine, which was built by donations pooled from the locals, has been renovated, and stands as a testimony for the exemplary religious harmony displayed by Ismail.
