ZP Presidents/Vice Presidents Election from Jan 28 to Feb 17

Bangalore, Jan 27: Elections to all the Presidents and Vice Presidents of all the 30 Zilla Panchayats in the State will be held starting from Friday, January 28, till February 17 for their respective first term of two and half years.  The schedule of elections was announced in an official notification issued by the Government.

In last ZP elections, the ruling BJP had secured a clear majority in 12 while the opposition Congress and JD(S) had won 4 each and no party was able to win a majority in the remaining 10.

The chiefs of ZPs would be elected by members as per the reservation policy announced by the Government earlier.

The president and vice-president of the ZPs in Belgaum division would be elected from January 28 to February 3.

Chiefs of the Haveri ZP would be elected on January 28, Uttar Kannada – January 29, Dharwad – January 31, Belgaum – February 1, Bijapur – February 2, Bagalkote – February 3.

Bangalore Division: Tumkur – February 5, Chickballapur – February 7, Kolar – February 8, Chitradurga – February 9, Shimoga – February 10, Davangere – February 11, Bangalore Rural – February 14, Bangalore Urban – February 15 and Ramanagaram – February 17.

Gulbarga Division: Raichur – February 1, Bellary – January 29, Koppal – January 31, Yadgiri – February – 2, Gulbarga – February 3, and Bidar –February 5.

Mysore Division: Kodagu – February 7, Dakshina Kannada – February 8, Udupi – February 9, Chikmagalur – February 10, Mysore – February 11, Chamarajanagara – February 14, Mandya – February 15, and Hassan – February 17.
