Bantwal, Dec 26: The Mother of God Church, Mogarnad, commenced the grand celebrations of its 250th jubilee year with a series of memorable events, starting on the eve of Christmas, December 24.
The jubilee celebrations were inaugurated during the solemn Eucharistic celebration, after which the official jubilee logo was unveiled. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, director of St Joseph's Engineering College, Mangaluru, had the honour of unveiling the logo, marking the beginning of this historic milestone for the Parish.
The festivities continued on December 25 with a spectacular Christmas night event. The parishioners of Mogarnad Church created a historic moment by lighting 250 candles arranged in the shape of '250' within a circle, symbolising unity, faith, and gratitude for 250 years of blessings.
The highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the list of upcoming jubilee programmes for the entire year by the parish priest, Fr Anil Canute D’Mello. The congregation also came together to sing the jubilee theme song, reflecting the spirit of celebration and thanksgiving.
The jubilee year promises to be a time of spiritual renewal, community bonding, and cultural enrichment, with numerous programmes planned to honour the legacy of the church and its faithful.
