Udupi, Jan 27: Brahmavar Foundation of Uppinakote organized a scholarship distribution programme and a musical concert of Bangalore-based Sound of Music Troupe, as part of Republic Day celebrations at Gandhi maidan, Brahmavar, here on Wednesday January 26.
MLA Raghupati Bhat after inaugurating the scholarship distribution of 175 students said that the social responsibility forms part of everyone, while Brahmavar Foundation has set an example by its yeomen service to society.
‘It has been proposed to develop approximately 9.5 acres plot of Gandhi maidan at Brahmavar to make a playground to conduct various tournaments. Since the plot belongs to Indian Armed Forces, the state funds cannot be utilized in this regard. Meanwhile, efforts will be made for the better utilization of Gandhi maidan, if the local social welfare, voluntary organizations and donors come forward to develop the same,’ said MLA Bhat.
B N Shankar Poojary of Mysore Tobacco Development Board, Malpe entrepreneur Pramod Madwaraj, Udupi Urban Development Authority (UUDA) chairman B Sudhakar Shetty, district Co-operative Union president Kishan Hegde Kolkebail, Brahmavar circle inspector G Krishnamurti, sub-inspector Hosakerappa and Handady gram panchayat vice- president Sudhir Kumar Shetty were the chief guests on the occasion.
Brahmavar Foundation managing trustee Govindaraj Hegde welcomed the gathering. The headmaster Ashok Kumar Shetty compered the programme.
The musical concert included well known Sandalwood actor Vinay Prasad and singer and music director Gururaj.
