Mangaluru, Feb 24: Several Indian students who had gone to Ukraine for studies are stranded there because of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The war has affected several countries of the world.
Another student, Clayton D'Souza of Padil trapped in Kyib of Ukraine, has passed on the message that there are no troubles at that moment. The parents of the students have contacted deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra. It is said that there were air bomb blasts hundreds of kilometres from the Claton's residence. Claton, who is a medical student, has telephoned his parents.

One of the stranded students is Anaina Anna from Derebail. She lives in Kharkid city on the border of Ukraine and has spoken over phone to her mother Sandhya stating that she was safe at that moment.
Ukraine is defending itself from the military attacks by Russia. The war has shaken the whole world since there is a fear of the third world war. The conflict began when Russian president Vladimir Putin sent his military to the area under the grip of East Ukraine and United States rebels. The situation has become even more tense after the countries against the war have imposed sanctions on Russia.
An Air India flight returned to Delhi after Ukraine said that it was involved in a military operation and the air space was closed on its east. Thousands of Indians are waiting to return to India amid the conflict. Russian president Vladimir Putin has deployed the Special Forces in two separate locations in Ukraine. The Air India aircraft decided to return to Delhi after messages were sent to all the planes heading to Ukraine.
The officials have declared the air space on the east of the country as dangerous The department of Russian aviation is likely to capture the air space.
The United Nations is repeatedly requesting Russia to withdraw its forces. Several countries including America have laid economic sanctions on Russia and warned it of strict action.
The video of Pakistan prime minister describing the conflict as "exciting" has gone viral. Russia has said that it welcomes the neutral stand of India. The Indian policy reflects on the special partnership between the two countries, stated Russia.
Police commissioner denies information on stranded students, DC opens helpline
Police commissioner N Shashikumar, however, has stated that there was no official information on anybody from Mangaluru stranded in Ukraine. "We appeal to the public to approach the control room or police stations if anyone from Mangaluru is stranded in Ukraine, So far we have not got any information," he has stated in a communique.
"We also don't have any information on any Ukraine nationals residing in Mangaluru. We have appealed to the public to approach us if police intervention is required for any Ukraine national in Mangaluru," Shashikumar has said.
Meanwhile, in the wake of the prevailing war situation in Ukraine, deputy commissioner Dr Rajendra K V has requested that any residents of Dakshina Kannada stuck in Ukraine and in need of help, may approach the district administration.
The helpline number of the DC control room is 1077. The natives of the district facing difficulty in Ukraine may call this number 24x7, DC has stated.
In addition, he has asked the relatives here of DK residents in Ukraine, to approach the nearest Tahsildar’s or DC office for any help.
