Udupi: Student falls from terrace while listening to music, loses life

Udupi, Jan 17: In a heart-wrenching incident, a third-year BCom student of a private institution in Manipal lost his life after accidentally falling from the terrace while listening to music.

According to a complaint filed by Rashmitha (27), a resident of Badagubettu village in Udupi, her younger brother Karthik (21), a third-year BCom student, tragically passed away. Karthik reportedly had a habit of listening to music after his studies.

On January 12, 2025, after dinner, Karthik went to the upper floor of their house with his mobile phone. While sitting on the edge of the terrace and listening to music, he accidentally slipped and fell, sustaining critical injuries. He was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Despite all efforts to save him, Karthik succumbed to his injuries during treatment in the early hours of January 16, at 2:40 a.m.

A case has been registered as an accidental death.
