Mangalore, Dec 8: “It is very important to concentrate on studies along with cricket as studies and sports go hand in hand in creating a personality” said Pradeep G Pai, managing director, Hangyo Ice Creams Pvt Ltd.

He was addressing the young Cricketers after distributing the prize at Hangyo Cup Interschool Cricket tournament organized by Dakshina Kannada District Cricket Association. The finals was played between Sudhana Residential School, Puttur and St Joseph's Joyland, Kollya with St Joseph's winning the final by one wicket.

Sudhana Residential School played first and scored 67 losing all wickets in 18.5 overs. In reply St Joseph's scored 68 runs at cost of 9 wickets in 21.2 overs. The final was of 30 overs. Hanin won the man of the finals trophy and Nihal S Bangera, won the man of the tournament trophy.

DK District Association president Dr Shrikanth Rai, vice-presidents Dr Devdas Rai, Dr Mohndas Bhandari, joint secretary K Venugopal, committee member Dr Devdas Shetty and manager Kasturi Balakrishna werepresent.

As announced in the beginning of the year Hangyo gave Rs 5,555/- scholarship to master Shamil Khan, student std X of St Joseph's Joyland High School the winning team. From this year Hangyo had announced a scholarship to a student from the winning team who has excelled in the studies too. Master Sankeerna Pai gave away the scholarship.
