Puttur, Nov 29: Puttur Railway Passengers Association has criticized the railways for what it has termed as stepmotherly treatment for Karnataka.
“The newly started Pune-Ernakulam express train covers a distance of 353 kms in Karnataka. However, it has been given stops only at Mangalore Junction station. In Kerala, it covers 419 kms, but seven stops have been given there, at Kasargod, Kannur, Talassery, Kozhikode, Tirur, Shoranur and Trissur, it has pointed out.
The association has decried the decision of the railways not to stop the train even at district headquarters like Udupi and Karwar, and asked the MPs of the region to question the motive behind this neglect towards Karnataka. It opined that these MPs have to bring pressure on the railways to give additional stops to the train at Udupi, Kumta, and Karwar.
