Bangalore: GPS to Track Movement of KSRTC Buses - Transport Minister

Bangalore, Nov 28: Minister for home and transport R Ashok on Saturday said that Global Positioning System (GPS) will be installed in 2,000 long distance buses run by Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) at a cost of Rs 10 crore.

He was speaking after launching five Airavat club class Volvo multi-axle intercity buses, on Saturday November 27. Centre would meet the expenses for the GPS. A control room in Bangalore will help keep tab on the movement of KSRTC buses, he said.

Minister said, the bus fare for Chennai, Mumbai and Hyderaba is Rs 700, Rs 1,300 and Rs 850, respectively. While, Bangalore-Chennai bus will go via Hosur and Vellore; Mumbai bound bus will go via Tumkur, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Haveri, Hubli, Dharwad, Belgaum, Kolhapur and Pune; Hyderabad headed Volvo will go via Anantapur, Kurnool and Jedcharla, he said.

    In todays date, its safe to travel by KSRTC luxury buses as the drivers get highly advanced safety training, unlike the private bus drivers who drive recklessly and put people lives in danger.
