Mangalore: Dr Raviraja Shetty Awarded Environmentalist of the Year 2010

Mangalore, Nov 23: Dr Raviraja Shetty G working as assistant professor (Horticulture) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kankanady, Mangalore has been awarded “Environmentalist of the Year 2010.”

The award was given from National Environmental Science (NESA), New Delhi based on his achievement in Research, Teaching and Extension in the field of Horticultural Sciences. Dr Shetty will receive the prestigious award at the 23rd International conference of the NESA academy to be held at Jamia Hamdard University New Delhi from December 27 to 29.

Dr Shetty was awarded doctoral degree in Horticulture from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore during the year 2006. He is associated from past 8 years with various Research and Extension projects in various capacities funded by different agencies. To his credit, he has more than 50 Scientific Research articles published in National level.

At present he is organizing training programmes for the officers of developmental departments, Extension personnel of NGO’s. He is also involving in transferring approved scientific technologies of the Universities through On Farm Testing and Front Line Demonstrations in farmers fields of Dakshina Kannada for their upliftment.
