Mangalore: Sporadic Rains, Lightning, in Twin Districts

Mangalore, Nov 22: On Sunday November 21, regionalized rains coupled with lightning were experienced in Karnataka coast.

Sullia, Subrahmanya, Puttur, Bantwal, Beltangady, Dharmasthala and nearby places received heavy rains along with lightning on Sunday evening. Karkala andKundapur taluks too registered very heavy rains. Power supply in Karkala town was disrupted due to gale and lightning. The city, Moodbidri,Mulky etc., got normal rains in the evening.

Lightning inflicted a loss of around Rs 40,000 on Sundar Master in Havanje, as his house bore the brunt of a lightning. A resident of Yennehole Jarottu named Padmavati Shetty suffered heavy loss due to lightning that struck her home on Sunday evening. Electronic equipments and roof of her house were damaged in the incident. Gulabi from Kadthala fainted due to lightning. Lightning also caused damages to equipments and trees in seveal areas.

The meteorological department has predicted fairly widespread rains/thundershowers during the next 24-hour period in Karnataka coast.
