Udupi, Oct 13: Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) is a top-ranking private university in India with 25 professional Higher Educational Institutions, 9 university teaching departments and over 100 specialized centres.
MAHE is set to inaugurate 'Manipal Centre for Biotherapeutics Research' (MCBR) on October 15, 2021 from 10:00 - 11:00 am. MCBR will be India’s first research centre to promote translational research based on Academia and Industry engagement model. The main areas of research are cell, gene, protein, nano / biomaterial therapeutics. The centre will offer two years Masters (by research) programme from the academic year 2022-23, and Ph.D. and Postdoctoral programmes from the current year.
This new centre will facilitate Pharma and Biopharma companies to carry out collaborative research with the state of the art infrastructure and skilled human resources. Companies can also establish collaborative research units at this centre or outsource potential translational research projects to the centre. “We are in the advanced stages of discussion with the pharma and biopharma companies from India as well as abroad on translational research collaboration” read the statement from Dr Raviraja NS, director Corporate Relations, MAHE who is also the coordinator of MCBR.
The centre will be inaugurated by Anurag Bagaria, chairman and CEO, Kemwell Biopharma, Bengaluru. Vasanti R Pai, trustee, MAHE Trust will be the chief guest for the function. Dr Ranjan R Pai, chairman, MEMG; and Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, vice chancellor of MAHE will be the guests of honour. Dr H S Ballal, pro chancellor of MAHE will preside over the function.
