Mangalore, Oct 23: A J Institute of Management conducted a two-day South India level inter-Collegiate management fest at its campus, recently.
Professor Pakkeerappa, chairman (BOS), department of business administration and finance Officer, Mangalore University, inaugurated the fest.
In his inaugural address, he stressed that the students should make the best use of the facilities and opportunities that are available to them for their growth and development. The guest of honour, Sandeep Aaron D’ silva, lead- human resource department, Infosys Technologies Ltd, Mangalore highlighted the need for acquiring knowledge as per the changing trends in the economy.
Prashanth Shetty, vice-president, LMET, presided over the function and congratulated the organizers for arranging such programmes and assured his full co-operation and support for such programmes in future.
Dr T Jayapraksh Rao, director, A J Institute of Management welcomed and introduced the guests. Meenakshi Rao, faculty, A J Institute of Management gave the insights of the programme held. Delora and Shailesh compered. Melbin, student co-ordinator proposed the vote of thanks. K K Nayak, administrative officer, LMET and Vijay Kumar were present on the dais.
On the first day of the fest, students from about 40 under graduate colleges affiliated to Mangalore University participated in quiz-competition. Professor Radhakrishna and Vishwas Kamath conducted the competition. First place was bagged by SDM Business College, Mangalore, second place by Canara College, Manglore and the third place by SDM Law College, Mangalore
On the second day, various events were conducted for the post graduate students of commerce and business administration. In all 20 institutions participated.
J K Rao, Lions district governor, Trustee, Vikas Group of Institutions, Mangalore, in his valedictory address highlighted the fact that students should empower themselves with the best of their abilities and skills to survive in the competitive job-market. Dr T Jayapraksh Rao, director, A J Institute of Management welcomed and introduced the guest, G R Krishnamurthy, A J Institute of Management presided. Chetan Kumar, faculty, A J Institute of Management gave brief report on proceedings of the two- day Management Fest. Ravi Shastri and Raina compered. Sweekrithi S Shetty, student coordinator proposed the vote of thanks. Robin Shinde, student council advisor was also present on the dais.
