Udupi, Sep 1: MLA Raghupati Bhat has favoured an appeal to extend chief minister's felicitation to Nihal Tauro from Moodbidri, who competed with over three lac contestants in the 12th edition of Indian Idol which was aired by Sony TV, and secured fifth spot in the finals. Nihal Tauro from Moodbidri was felicitated recently at a function organised in Udyavar by Nirantar Udyavar organization.
Nihal was the only contestant from Karnataka to have made the grade. On behalf of 'Nirantar Udyavar' organization, its president, Steevan Colaco, had approached MLA Raghupati Bhat with a request to see that Nihal, who catapulted Karnataka to worldwide fame with his beautiful performances, is facilitated by the chief minister on behalf of the people of Karnataka. Raghupati Bhat has promised to speak to the chief minister soon and make an effort to see that Tauro is felicitated as desired.
Entrepreneur Ronald Manohar Karkada, who was present, promised to the organizers that Tauro will be felicitated on behalf of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) at Bengaluru in the presence of former chief minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president, D K Shivakumar. He said that the felicitation will be held based on the availability of Nihal Tauro.
Udupi diocese chancellor Fr Stany B Lobo, Udyavar gram panchayat president Radhakrishna Shriyan, former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh president Mary D'Souza, Lions district second deputy governor Neri Carnelio, Lions Club Udyavar Sunshine president Godfrey D'Souza, secretary Michael D'Souza, Nirantar secretary, Olivira Mathias, ICYM president Royal Castelino and others were present.
