Bangalore, Sep 28 (PTI): The Congress today demanded resignation of the BJP government led by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa in Karnataka over what it called ''major denotification of land racket''.
"Owning collective responsibility over the issue, the government should resign. The documents are in black and white. There is clear evidence now," Opposition Congress leader in the state Assembly Siddaramaiah told reporters here.
"The wealth of the state is being looted. What moral right they have to continue in power," he asked referring to the denotification of lands favouring Yeddyurappa's sons which the Bangalore Development Authority had acquired much before the duo had purchased it in K R Puram taluk.
Siddaramaiah also demanded a probe into the payment of compensation "fraudulently" by Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board to the tune of Rs 105 crore. He wanted the guilty, including officials and politicians, to be punished.
"This shows the government is steeped in corruption. It is daylight robbery," he said.
