Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 15: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday August 15 reported 311 new coronavirus cases and four deaths, while Udupi registered 177 new cases and no death. Dakshina Kannada's single-day tally was again the highest among all districts in the state for the day.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 13,99,956 samples have been tested so far, out of which 12,94,112 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,05,844, out of which 3,609 are currently active.

As many as 380 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,00,734.
The district recorded four deaths due to coronavirus on Sunday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,501, out of which five are non-Covid deaths.
The positivity rate in the district stands at 3.21%.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,03,12,770 as fine in 84,741 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 8,52,748 samples have been tested so far.
As many as 177 new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 71,818, out of which 1,356 are currently active.
A total of 117 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 70,029.
Out of 177 new patients, 148 are in home isolation while 29 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 177, as many as 108 are symptomatic and 69 asymptomatic.
While Udupi taluk reported 97 of the 177 cases, Kundapur recorded 37, Karkala 42, and one from outside the district.
Coronavirus has claimed 433 lives in the district so far. No death was reported on Sunday.
So far, 5,61,846 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 2,05,679 have received the second dose.
A total of 51 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the distrinct so far, out of which, 7 are currently active.
