Bengaluru, Aug 13: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President D K Shivakumar asked the Youth Congress workers to work for strengthening the party from the grassroots and strengthen the organisation.
Addressing a function to mark the assumption of office by RakshaRamaiah as the State Youth Congress President in Bengaluru on Friday, he asked all Congressmen to concentrate on meeting the people from the booth level and fight for solving the problems of the people even while educating them on the failures of the BJP during the last seven years and in the State.
AICC Observer Madhu Yakshigowd, KPCC Working Presidents Salim Ahmed, Dhruva Narayan and State Mahila Congress President Pushpa Amarnath attended the function.
Shivakumar said the Congress party must organise itself from the booth level and strengthen the organisation upwards. If the party had taken the message to the people on the pro-people and progressive measures taken by the Siddaramaiah government in the State and Dr Manmohan Singh in Delhi, the Congress would not have lost the elections.
Every Congress workers and youth Congressmen should try to build their base from the panchayat raj institutions, he said pointed out that he had started his career as a zilla panchayat member and Ramalinga Reddy started as a corporator. Several national leaders including the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had started as ordinary workers, he said.
The Youth Congress and all party workers must work for solving the problems of the people in their local areas and earn the confidence of the people, who in turn will bless when the time comes, he said.
