Mangaluru, Aug 9: “The need to conserve our natural resources and manage them judiciously is of utmost importance if we wish humanity to survive on this planet”.
In order to further enlighten the field staff, CODP took the opportunity to invite Dr Haridas, manager for Climate Adaptive Agriculture and Livelihood, Caritas India to address the staff on natural resource management on August 4.
Fr Vincent DSouza, director of CODP, welcomed the participants and introduced the resource person Dr Haridas. He also explained the relevance of the day’s topic to the field staff as it is they who disseminate the information and knowledge gained to the self-help group members and community at the grassroots level.
Thereafter, Dr Haridas took over the session and explained in detail, through powerpoint presentation, the various aspects and components of soil and water conservation techniques.
It was the first time that CODP conducted the awareness program through Google meet for staff of its Extension Office in Kumbla who were not able to be present due to Covid restrictions. In all 20 members, including the director participated in the awareness session.
