Puttur, Aug 6: A youth who tried to end his life by jumping into a river on account of domestic problems was rescued and convinced against losing hope on account of the challenges of life. This incident happened in Uppinangady on Thursday August 5.

Vijayaraju (32), son of Manku, resident of Kavu Mudnoor in the taluk, was trying to plunge into the river on Thursday from Kumaradhara bridge. At that time, Aditya Bhat, owner of Kartik Restaurant, Uppinangady, who was passing by in his car, showed excellent presence of time and caught hold of the young man before he jumped into the river.

During his questioning, Vijayaraju said he has aged parents at home. Added to this, his younger brother is a liquor addict. Because of these problems, he lost interest in remaining alive, he revealed. He was convinced of the need to serve the aged parents and face life's challenges without tension and turning his life into a beautiful experience. He was also told that he was not right in escaping from the problems, duly orphaning his close ones by ending his life.

The policemen and the locals appreciated Bhat for his timely act that saved the life of a young man.
