Kasargod, Aug 5: “I will be holding discussions with Karnataka state government over restrictions imposed by it at Talapady state border,” said Kerala state chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan at the Vidhan Sabha on Thursday.

He was answering the question raised by Manjeshwar MLA A K M Ashraf. “The restrictions at Kerala and Karnataka border is a serious matter as the new restrictions are brought about by the Karnataka state government against the directions of the centre. Kerala state director general of police (DGP) has had discussions over the matter to Karnataka state DGP. They have assured us of suitable measures,” he said.

“The Karnataka state government has made Covid negative certificates issued within a time gap of 72 hours mandatory to travel to Karnataka. The officials of Karnataka state government have intensified inspections at Talapady border from August 2nd. Police department is making sure that the restrictions do not hinder medical treatment and emergency services. RTPCR tests are arranged at the border for regular travellers to and fro Mangaluru from Kasargod. Suitable arrangements are made at the border to avoid confusion,” clarified chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
