Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 31: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday July 31 reported 365 new coronavirus cases and seven deaths, while Udupi registered 148 new cases and one death.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 12,64,232 samples have been tested so far, out of which 11,63,862 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,00,370 out of which 2,803 are currently active.
As many as 243 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.
The district recorded seven deaths due to coronavirus on Saturday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,424.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,00,24,317 as fine in 82,453 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 7,82,870 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 148 new cases were reported on Saturday, taking the total number of cases to 69,776, out of which 1,105 are currently active.
A total of 88 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.
Out of 148 new patients, 130 are in home isolation while 18 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 148 cases, as many as 86 are symptomatic and 62 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 74 new cases, Kundapur registered 25 and Karkala 47 and 2 were from out if district.
Coronavirus has claimed 416 lives in the district so far, including one on Saturday. The person who died on Saturday was from Udupi.
So far, 5,07,708 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 1,80,301 have received the second dose.
A total of 47 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 7 are currently active.
