Mangaluru, Jul 31: The ban imposed on flights to the Gulf countries from India on account of Covid infection, has not been cleared even after three months. Thousands of people from coastal Karnataka, who came to their native places on a visit during the coronavirus pandemic, little knowing about the impact of the visit, have not been able to return to their workplaces in the Gulf as a result. They are losing their jobs.

UAE General Civil Aviation Authority has barred flights to Dubai from India from April 24 to October 1. No flights have been operated to Saudi Arabia from India after the coronavirus first wave. At the same time, people coming to their native places from Arab countries have not faced problems as flying to India has been allowed.

A large number of youngsters from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasargod districts have been working in various sectors in the Gulf region. The offices in that region follow the strict rule of removing employees who do not attend the work promptly. The businesses find someone else in the place of employees who lose jobs.

Many people who either came before April or thereafter on a leave of a month are facing a situation in which they cannot return to their jobs and hence risk losing their lucrative jobs.
