Mangaluru, Jul 31: A serial accident took place near Madaninagar of Kuthrar, late night on Friday July 30, due to reckless driving by a car driver. An auto-rickshaw and a car were damaged and the driver of the auto-rickshaw also suffered injuries.
A Honda car that was being driven at high speed from Deralakatte towards Mangaluru collided against the auto-rickshaw that was approaching from the opposite direction. The driver of the Honda car could not control the car due to the impact and hit another car which was occupied by medical students. Auto-rickshaw driver Mohammed Mansoor (35), resident of Deralakatte Badyar is seriously injured. His auto rickshaw was completely mangled in the collision.
The car which was carrying medical students was also damaged. However, the students had a providential escape. The driver of the Honda car which caused the accident, locked the car and escaped from the spot. Locals accuse that the driver of the Honda car was driving under the influence of alcohol.
Nagori traffic police reached the spot and confiscated the car. It is also accused that the spot where the accident took place has many potholes and this might be the reason also for the driver of Honda car to lose control.
Later, it was identified that the Honda car was driven by Karate Master Dharanappa, resident of Vittal Kepu.
