Mangaluru, Jul 30: Maravoor bridge was opened for vehicular movement on Friday July 30 afternoon after the completion of its restoration work.

One of the pier foundations sunk into the river on June 15 which has now been restored successfully. The vehicle movement test was conducted on Thursday July 29.

For a month, vehicle movement was completely halted which affected public. Passengers to the airport would take alternative routes to reach airport which consumed a lot of time.

As the bridge sunk on one side, it severely affected public. Students and people going for work used to park their vehicle on one side and cross the bridge.

It is a relief for everyone as after a month gap, the bridge has been opened for vehicle movement. The engineers associated in the restoration works worked day and night relentlessly to restore the bridge and make way for vehicles once again.
