Mangaluru, Jul 30: The programme of conferring honorary awards and Book Prize of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy of 2020 will be held at 2 pm on August 1 at Kudmul Ranga Rao Townhall.
Giving details of the awards, Dr K Jagadeesh Pai, president of the academy, at a press conference that was held on Thursday, July 29, said, “Arun Subrav Ubhayakar (literature), Puttur Panduranga Nayak (art) and Lakshmi Krishna Siddi (folk) will be conferred Honorary awards while book prizes will be given to Prem Moras for his poem ‘Ekmoot Pavlyo’, Monica D’Sa’s short story ‘Navidiha’ and Steevan Quadras’s article ‘Sugandu Swas’.”
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, former district in charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLA Vedavyas Kamath and Konkani actor Henry D’Silva will be present on the occasion. The programme will be organized in a very simple manner following Covid-19 guidelines. Only guests and awardees will take part in the programme as per the information given by Dr Pai.
Dr Pai also said that Konkani Manyata Divas will be celebrated on August 20, the day when Konkani language got constitutional recognition. This year it will be celebrated in a simple manner in Kumta, Hubballi, Karwar, Davanagere, Bengaluru and Mangaluru. In Mangaluru, the programme will be held with cooperation of St Aloysius College.
Registrar of the academy R Mohan Kamath, members Canute Jeevan, Naveen Nayak and Arun G Shet were present.
