Udupi, Jun 10: “The BJP government had promised heaven for ordinary people before coming to power at the centre. It has made the price of petrol reach Rs 100, provided ‘Ache Din’ to everybody and showed their performance,” said Karnataka Pradesh Congress committee panellist Veronica Cornelio.
“BJP government at the centre has one achievement after the other. The currency note demonetization, additional tax on GST services, increase of the price of cooking gas and cancellation of subsidy on it, increase in electricity charges and privatization of several government organizations have been the biggest achievements of the Modi government."
"Petrol prices have reached Rs 100 in the state. The then UPA government had fixed the petrol prices between Rs 65 and Rs 70 when crude oil prices in the international market were 145 dollars per barrel. Now that the crude oil prices are 78 dollars per barrel, why is the BJP government unable to sell petrol for prices between Rs 65 and Rs 70?
“BJP had obtained publicity before coming to power that they will sell petrol for Rs 30. Why is it imposing tax of Rs 65 for a base price of Rs 33 for petrol now is the question from ordinary people? The government is filling its treasury by imposing heavy taxes on people. It is looting people instead of showing concern towards them during the current difficult Covid conditions. The government at the centre and the state should control the prices at least now and help people,” she urged.
