Bantwal, May 14: A person from Maninalkur village in the taluk had tested positive for coronavirus infection. A complaint has been registered against him at the rural police station here, on the allegation of participating in a marriage ceremony in spite of his positive infection status and in violation of norms.
Rajesh Poojary from Bollukallu in Maninalkur village has been accused of violating government rules. He had been tested on May 10 at Daivasthala primary health centre and found to have been infected by Covid19. The health department officials had visited his house on May 11 and advised him against coming out of the house for 14 days.
But Thursday, when a team led by the gram panchayat development officer, Vasanthi, visited his house, the team learnt that Rajesh had participated in a marriage at Karkala that day. When questioned, he is said to have wondered why he needs to be in quarantine when test done in a private hospital in Mangaluru had given negative result. He is said to have arrogantly confronted the officials.
On the basis of the complaint given by the panchayat development officer to the police station, a case was registered at the rural police station here.
