Mangaluru, Apr 20: Shree Devi Institute of Technology organised one day workshop on Research Methodology for MBA students at their Kenjar campus on April 16.

The first session was deliberated by Dr Rashmi Kodikal, chief editor, Journal of Applied Management & Advanced Research for Apex Publication House, Mumbai. In the inaugural address, she shared that research is something we do every day and it is not rocket science. She emphasized that Research can find answers to things that are unknown, filling gaps of knowledge and plays a vital role in economic development. The session applied more focus on the sampling process, sources to be used for literature review, questionnaire designing, objective formulation and research hypothesis. She motivated the students to take up challenging societal issues for research projects.

The second session was deliberated by Dr TPM Pakkala, adjunct professor in the department of statistics, Mangalore University, on techniques of data analysis. The session involved topics on understanding various methodologies of research. He emphasized that knowledge exploration is possible only through scientific research.

He gave an overview of research objectives, classification and interpretation of data. He concluded his session by explaining the differences between types of research, different scales in research and data analysis. He appreciated the efforts of the MBA team that organized the Research Methodology workshop.

Dr K E Prakash, principal and director, Shree Devi Institute of Technology presided and addressed students and pointed that research is more than understanding a set of skills, it is a way of thinking. The session was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Gayathri B J, head of the department of MBA.
