Mangaluru, Apr 12: People from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts will be deprived of the convenience of a single direct flight to reach the national capital. They now will have to either go to Mumbai or Bengaluru to catch onward flight to New Delhi.

The direct flight to Delhi that was being operated by IndiGo Airlines has been suspended since the last few days.

SpiceJet had also suspended its New Delhi flight sometime ago.

The flight, which was introduced after the lockdown, had been suspended within some days, citing shortage of passengers. Later, at the behest of the passengers, the services were introduced again. In the past, a flight to New Delhi via Bengaluru was also available in the afternoon.

The passengers believe that IndiGo will witness an increase in passengers if it changes the timings to day instead of night. IndiGo officials say that because of coronavirus infection problem along with shortage of passengers, the flight has been suspended.
