Mangaluru, Mar 27: Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM) has initiated the MSN Knowledge Series, a series of excellent academic talks to disseminate knowledge in the field of business, commerce, economics and finance which would be of keen interest and high utility for the learned citizens of Mangaluru hailing from corporate, academics and business communities. This knowledge endeavour is named after the institution’s founder president late Manel Srinivas Nayak.
Sarita Kamath, head – Legal & Compliance and company secretary of Tata Capital Ltd, Mumbai was the guest speaker for a talk on 'Career as a Company Secretary', which was held as a part of this series on Saturday, March 20 at the Institute’s campus, Bondel, Mangaluru. The program was held in hybrid mode, both online and offline. The audience for the talk included faculty members, research scholars and students from institute's in and around Mangaluru.
Sarita Kamath spoke in brief about the profession of company secretary and the aspects related to the course. She explained in detail the way the course can be taken up after completing Class 12, the subjects involved and the pattern of the exams. She informed the audience of the websites where the required information and guidance is available. She spoke about the roles and responsibilities of a company secretary in companies especially in convening various meetings, the statutory compliances necessary for companies to follow before, during and after any meeting.
Advising the students to plan their career seriously, she said, “Career enables us to fulfil our dreams and achieve desired goals throughout our life journey.” She highlighted how women have changed over the years and they have managed to maintain their work-life balance. “Society looked upon women as just housewives in olden days, but today things have changed. Women have become successful and also know how to balance their work as well as their homes. It is always with good support and a good environment that women can achieve what they want in their lives,” she said.
Manel Annappa Nayak, vice-president of Women’s National Education Society (WNES) and chief advisor, MSNIM, Vittal Das Leeladhar, mentor, MSNIM, Raghava Kamath, member of the Governing Body, MSNIM and MN Pai, member of the Governing Council, WNES were present.
