Mangaluru, Feb 2: St Aloysius PU College, Harihar had a splendid afternoon on January 30 as the college welcomed the provincial of Karnataka province, Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ on the occasion of Martyrs Day.
The dignitaries included Fr Eric Mathias SJ, superior of the college; Fr Rayappa SJ, finance officer of the college; Baptist Sunny Gudinho, principal of the college; Pushpalatha Urs and Princy Flavia Pinto, vice-principals of the college.
Ankitha, the president of the Student Council compered the programme which began with an inter-religious prayer led by the students followed by felicitation of Fr Dion.
Fr Provincial then addressed the gathering by paying homage to all the freedom fighters and valiant men and women of the country who laid down their lives for the country's freedom.
He also expressed his joy on being able to pay a visit to the Harihar campus to which he has been long associated. He encouraged the students to be men and women of integrity, intelligence along with possessing energy to do any kind of task. He emphasized on the institution's aim of forming young men and women for and with others.
After the formal programme, the staff had a small get-together with Fr Provincial where the principal presented the college report and a small interaction took place between the staff and Fr Provincial.
The entire programme coordinated by Fabiola Fernandes culminated on a very positive note.
