Udupi: Plant adoption programme held at St Mary’s College Shirva

Udupi, Dec 23: “Creatures of nature have feelings like humans. They are needed to maintain equilibrium in the environment. Therefore, we should love nature,” said popular snake expert Gururaj Sanil.

He was the chief guest at a farmer’s day programme held by IQAC unit, a national service project of St Mary’s College, Shirva in association with Udupi’s Namma Mane Namma Mara organization.

Namma Mane Namma Mara organization member, Raviraj H P and Avinash Kamath who were on the dais handed over adopted plants to the college principal, NSS project officers, Manavika Sangha co-conveners and the volunteers. The saplings were planted on the college premises.

College principal, Dr Herald Ivan Monis who presided over the programme said that it is necessary to grow plants to decrease global temperature and that the college will take responsibility to nurture the plants.

College IQAC unit convenor, Melwin Castelino, teaching and non-teaching staff members, NSS project officer, volunteers and students were present. Manavika Sangha co-convener Padmasini U welcomed the gathering. NSS project officer, Premanath rendered the vote of thanks. Volunteer Akshata compered the programme.
