Mangaluru, Nov 28: Akash G of Expert PU College, here, has been selected for MBBS at India's premier medical college, Armed Forces Medical College ( AFMC) Pune. Managed by the Indian Armed Forces, the prestigious AFMC Pune is the only armed forces medical college in India admitting students other than the children of army personnel.

AFMC has 150 MBBS seats and no seats here are reserved for students from any category which means that highly meritorious students alone can get admission. Admission to MBBS here is based on, physical fitness and performance in English language test and interview that is conducted for only those with a high NEET score.

Students at AFMC have a unique opportunity to interact with scholars and enhance their academic excellence from the renowned research centre on the campus. Unlike in other medical colleges, students here are paid for their one year internship services which MBBS students are expected to do after completion of 4 and a half year's studies. After MBBS they will be appointed as commissioned officers and they can also do their post-graduation there.
