Bangalore, May 14: It is said that the BJP leaders have received signals from the RSS functionaries that it would be prudent for the party to accommodate only those who won their seats under the banner of the BJP, in the state ministry. As a result, the independent ministers, who had extended a helping hand to the BJP to muster a majority in the assembly and form the government, accepting ministerial positions in return, now face the prospect of getting axed.
Hectic lobbying is now on within the BJP camp for ministerial berths. It is likely, that the party will take up the tricky task of cabinet reshuffle after the ‘Sadhana Samavesh’ being organized during the third week of June, 2010, to reflect on the achievements of the party on the completion of two-year tenure in the state.
Already the posts vacated by K S Eshwarappa and Halappa remain unfilled. Yeddyurappa followed up the discussions MP, Anant Kumar, and state BJP president, K S Eshwarappa, had with the RSS leadership in Hubli, by visiting ‘Keshava Kripa’ in the city and consulting the RSS leaders on Friday. It is learnt that the discussions he had with them hovered around the proposed ‘Sadhana Samavesh’ of the BJP, candidates for legislative council and Rajya Sabha, besides cabinet expansion, party sources said.
The RSS leaders apparently told the BJP government that it is time sincere workers of the party are given positions of power, as the party now has a majority on its own. It is said that the Chief Minister expressed his readiness to put into practice all the suggestions mooted, subject to the condition that he should be allowed to induct Shankaramurty, Shobha Karandlaje and V Somanna into the state ministry.
