Mangalore: SPAR India Introduces Hyper Market in City

Mangalore, May 1: SPAR India opened its hyper market spread over an area of about 44,000 sq ft at City Mall on K S Rao Road in the city, on Friday April 30. Inspector general of police (western range), Gopal Hosur, inaugurated the hyper market, which is stated to be the first store of international standard in the district.
‘SPAR’ is the largest independent food retail chain in the world, with nearly 14,000 stores spread across 37 countries. In India, Max Hypermarkets India Pvt Ltd has entered into a licence agreement with SPAR International to operate the chain.
Gopal Hosur wished the new store every success. Managing director of Max Hypermarkets, Vinay singh, was present.
The new store offers a choice of over 40,000 different items to customers under one roof. The items available include food products, clothes, toys, bar items, fresh fruits and vegetables, fish, meat, electronic items, health and cosmetic products etc.
Hyper Market is a concept where the customers are promised of a unique shopping experience, Vinay Singh said in a press conference held earlier on Friday. “The shop is designed by SPAR International’s team, to give the customers a new experience and added convenience. Easy trolly movement, high ceiling, air conditioning, faster billing and packing, are among the services offered,” he explained. SPAR also offers the facility of ‘Every Day Low Price (EDLP)’ for selected items, particularly grocery, ‘Best Deal’ promotion offers and other bargains. Members of the Inner Circle Loyalty programme of the chain stand to gain through points that can be used at any of the Landmark Group’s store formats.
SPAR, which boasts of a global turnover of USD 42 billion annually, also works to minimize use of plastic bags and uses only oxi-biodegradable bags at its stores.
