Mangaluru, Aug 8: School plays an important role in the holistic development of the children and their survival in the competitive world. It has been a custom at Manipal school to conduct personality development sessions for students every year. This year the school organised an online session “Knowing Myself” on the July 29 for Grade X students. Atleast 62 students participated in an hour-long session conducted by Dr Rashmi Kodikal, a resourceful and innovative professional with 16 years of teaching experience at Post graduate level. She has been working as the Chief editor of two national level management journals. She is also an artist with flair for paintings using acrylic and oil medium and runs business under the brand name of RKKreations.

Dr Rashmi then took over the session, she started the session with a quote ‘Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new beginning’. She said we know more about others than ourselves, so knowing oneself is important in the first place. This requires introspection and that is what her session was mainly about. She reminded the students that all are born unique and based on one’s qualities we can shape up our personalities. She encouraged the students to follow their passion and do it differently which will also make sense. Dr Rashmi then conducted an activity where multiple choice questions were given to the students based on the VAK learning styles which helped them to identify their style whether Visual, Auditory or Kinaesthetic.

The session ended by Dr Rashmi sharing an image of three famous personalities who followed their passion irrespective of having qualification in various fields. It set an example for the students to be hopeful towards their goal and motivated them to discover themselves.
