Kundapur, Aug 8: The road from Basrur Moorukai to Vinayaka is becoming a lake after one rain due to unscientific construction. It will not be possible to travel on this road if it rains continuously. The heavy rain that pounded here on Saturday converted the road into a lake causing traffic jams.

The situation is being faced due to the negligence of the national highway authority. Concerned people have failed to pay attention to the woes during the monsoons. People have lost their patience.

Anguished people have to put up a board that is a swimming pool of elected representatives. They have said that indifference of the contractors who should have made way for the rainwater to flow has caused the problems.

Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary who listened to the problem, telephoned the deputy commissioner from the spot and directed him to solve it. He said that he will draw attention in the meeting to the highway officials.

National highway campaign committee's B Kishore Kumar, Rajesh Kaveri, Shiriyara Gopalakrishna Shetty, Shashidhar Hemmady and others were present.
