Kundapur, Aug 7: Farmers in the olden days were indulged in dairy farming along with agriculture and used the manure for farming and thereby obtaining a large amount of produce. The pride of the farmer can be seen in the manure that he uses, said Dharmasthala rural development project B C Trust Udupi district director Ganesh B.
He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop on horticulture for farmers in Kulunje community auditorium.
Kulunje Pragathi Bandhu self-help association president B Shivarama presided over the programme. Assistant agriculture director Roopa J Mada hoped that the knowledge reaches a large number of farmers. Farming officer Ajith gave details of horticulture crops, ways to grow them and the facilities available.
Okkoota zonal president Umesh Hegde, Vandse agriculture officer Mamatha, supervisor Malati P Nayak, service representative Vasanth were present. Project taluk agriculture officer Chetan Kumar compered the programme and Jyothi of Atma Jyothi welcomed the gathering. Technical staff Sridhar Naik rendered the vote of thanks. Two saplings each were distributed to farmers who were present.
