Mangaluru: Houses built illegally on land for civic workers condemnable, action demanded - Khader

Mangaluru, Aug 1: The district Congress sought demolition of illegal houses built on land allotted to civic workers at Pacchanady.

Addressing media, here, on Saturday August 1, MLA U T Khader said, "We condemn the move of illegally constructing houses on land allotted to civic workers. The houses are being constructed without any kind of documents and we demand stringent action against them.

Former MLA Mohiudeen Bava said, "Based on the complaint by Pacchanady locals, the Congress team consisting of MLA Khader, former mayor Kavitha Sanil, former MLA J R Lobo, Abhaya Chandra Jain visited Pacchanady. On visiting the place they were shocked to see illegal houses erected on land allotted to civic workers. The local corporator, her husband and the MLA are involved in the construction of these illegal houses.

"When Hilda Alva and Ramanath Rai were in power, houses were built on the same land, but BJP opposed and demolished them. Today, on the same land, houses have been constructed illegally. We will bring this issue to the notice of the deputy commissioner and the police commissioner.

"Further, they have axed a few trees and illegally transported them to Pacchanady luring some people with money and threatening them money," said Bava.

District Congress president Harish Kumar, former mayor Kavitha Sanil and others were present.
