Raichur, Jul 12: In a barbaric and shocking incident occurred on Saturday, July 11, at Sukalapete of Sindhanoor of the district, five people of boy's family were brutally hacked to death by the members of the girl's family as they were against the love marriage of their daughter with the boy.

Sumithramma (55), mother of the boy, Nagaraja (38), Hanumesha (40), brothers of the boy and Sridevi (30), sister of the boy died on the spot, while Eerappa (65), father of the boy, who was seriously injured, succumbed at the hosptial. Other two sisters of the boy Revathi (20) and Thayamma (25) are also injured and getting treated in the hosptial.

Mounesha (21) and Manjula (18) were having an affair since a year. Both belonged to the same caste. They got married at Gadag secretly eight months ago. However, the family members of Manjula did not agree to this marriage. On Saturday, July 12, the couple had gone to the house of Manjula's parents. Her family members got infuriated at the site of the couple and had abused and threatened them.

Out of fear for life, the couple had gone to the police station to file a complaint. The family members of the girl, who were enraged by this went to the house of boy Mounesha and attacked the family members with rod and wooden logs.

Police have taken five members of girl Manjula's family into custody. A case in this regard is registered in Sindhanoor rural police station.
