Byndoor: Surendra Master - Teacher who imparts education offline

Byndoor, Jul 8: Because of lockdown, school children are wasting their time by sitting at home idly. For the convenience of such children, Surendra Naik, a teacher from Byndoor, has conducted offline classes.

Naik has been serving Sri Siddalingeshwara High School Magadi, Bengaluru as a teacher since the last 10 years. During lockdown, he returned to his native place. Under the guidance of the education department, he went to the lower primary school at Nada Hemmunje of which he is a past student, and recorded lessons being taught by him by using the blackboard in the classroom. He has shared this recording through the Facebook page, 'Surendra Guddehotel' and reached out to a number of students who are in need of such lessons.

Naik had worked as the headmaster of Vista High School founded by Alur gram panchayat and 'Namma Bhoomi' society jointly in 2002. During the four years he was there, he had worked to bring back many school dropouts and made sure that they passed SSLC examinations.

He formed a drama troupe of students and arranged over 68 street plays giving social messages through the troupe. The play he arranged at Bengaluru had won the ELC from governor, Vajubhai Vala and best teacher convener award. He also has bagged many other awards.

The video of offline classes he prepared during the lockdown period has been relayed in the district headquarters of 34 academic districts. Over 5 lac students and parents have watched the classes. About 250 social science teachers had formed a WhatsApp group to help SSLC students. These classes are suitable also for ninth standard pass students.

"Schools were to reopen during June. For various reasons, this could not happen. Even though there are hopes that the schools may reopen in August, during July, I thought that instead of passing time, students should be inspired to study. Otherwise, they might forget what they have learnt. That is why I recently started eighth standard social science class on my Facebook page. Under the current situation, teachers should come forward to show the right path to the children. This class was not held with only the examination in mind, but also to instil value in students. The parents should also keep inspiring the children," Surendra Master says.

Why can’t government use DD TV channels for broadcasting CBSC classes through distance learning . Many students can’t afford a smart phone and a laptop. I think this will help most of the students with the best recorded lessons by professional teachers.
For students around the country, classroom learning has become distance learning. Despite the uncertainty around closed schools, teachers can still provide some Question and answer sessions for their students. Also with BSNL reliable , cheap, secure network, school administrators can give teachers the connectivity and collaboration tools to help them to connect with students, parents and colleagues.
Distance learning through DD Tv channels are best mode to impart education in
    the future .
