Puttur, Jul 6: An individual had filed a petition in the court here, seeking directions from the police to register a first information report (FIR) against a local doctor, Dr Suresh Puthuraya accusing him of posting communally provocative messages on social media. The court has dismissed the petition without hearing any counter-arguments.
The said private complaint was lodged by B P K Muhammed resident of Purusharakatte in Narimogru village in the taluk. Manjunath, senior civil judge and judge of the ACMJ court here, passed the said order.
Dr Suresh Puthuraya happens to be a doctor of Mahaveer Hospital here. He had forwarded a message in a WhatsApp group which read, 'dear corona, you have anyway arrived in India. Before going away, visit people who oppose Modi. Otherwise, they will take on the mantle of witnesses'. Muhammed had said that Puthuraya, by this act, stirred up communal passions and tried to pit one community against the other. He requested the court to instruct the police to register a case under different provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act, on June 29.
However, the judge dismissed the complaint on his own through an order. Advocate Mahesh Kaje argued the case on behalf of Dr Suresh Puthuraya.
