Mangaluru, Jul 4: The renovated Immaculate Heart of Mary Church at Kuppepadav, was inaugurated on Saturday July 4, by Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangalore diocese, in the presence of the parish priest Fr Valerian D'Souza.
Kuppepadav parish was started on August 22, 1958, dedicating the parish to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Since the church building was old, the parishioners decided to build a new church. On September 16, 2018, foundation was laid for a new church by the bishop Emeritus of Bangalore Archdiocese, Bernard Moras.
By the sacrifice and hard work of the parishioners and by the grace of donors, the new church was completed and inaugurated on July 4.
A solemn Holy Eucharist was presided over by the Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, along with the parish priest Fr Valerian D'souza and the guest priests Fr Maxim Rosario, Fr Paul Pinto, Fr Anil Lobo, Fr Vijay Machado, Fr Pascal Cutinha, Fr Lesly Luwis, and Fr Alwyn D'Souza as concelebrants of the Holy Eucharist.
After the Mass, a programme was arranged. Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha was the chief guest on the occasion along with the parish priest and parish council vice president and secretary. At the end, the donors were felicitated and a token of gratitude were given to the guests. The vice president of the parish council welcomed the gathering and the secretary rendered the vote of thanks. Gregory Rosario compered the programme which concluded with lunch.
