Mangaluru, Jul 3: Former minister and MLA U T Khader, has registered his opposition to the central government's decision to ban 59 Chinese origin apps.
He questioned the rationale behind banning the Chinese apps, arguing that the ban does not in any way result in loss or harm to China. He also said that the ban on the apps does not in any way benefit India. "PM Care Fund has received Rs 30 crore through TikTok app. Let the government refund this amount. Is the government not ashamed at accepting money from them? Indians were employed in companies running Chinese apps. They have now lost their jobs. Indians were earning money through these apps. The government has placed a blanket ban on these apps just as a means of publicity stunt. This decision has dented the image of India at the international level," he claimed in a statement.
Khader said that the decision of the government has made India a laughing stock in the eyes of China.
On the issue of inhuman disposal of bodies of COVID victims at Ballari, he stated that the officials who were responsible for this lapse have not been acted against. He wanted to know whether any concession is being extended just because it is the home district of the health minister. He demanded state level inquiry into the case.
"In the coming days, there is a likelihood of the number of deaths increasing. The government hospitals do not have proper ambulance services. The government should earmark sites for the funeral of mortal remains belonging to different religions," he said.
