State government issues revised guidelines for home isolation of coronavirus patients

Bengaluru, Jul 3: In tune with the guidelines issued by the union health ministry, the state government, taking into account the prevailing and evolving situation of coronavirus infection in the state, has come out with detailed guidelines for the isolation of COVID positive patients.

The government has prescribed that the patient should report to the physician/health authorities every day and be in possession of equipment like oximeter, digital thermometer, and personal protective equipment like facemasks and gloves.

The persons who have tested COVID positive shall be permitted to be in home isolation with the following conditions:

1. Only those who are asymptomatic or mild symptomatic shall be allowed to be in isolation at home.
2. They shall be oriented to the protocol of home isolation.
3. Health team from district health authority/ BBMP shall visit the house and assess its suitability for home isolation and also do triage of the patient.
4. Tele-consultation link shall be established for initial triage and daily follow-up of the patient during the entire period of home isolation.
5. The patient shall report to the physician/ health authorities about their health status every day.
6. The patient shall have pulse oximeter, digital thermometer and personal protective equipment (facemasks, gloves) to be used during home isolation.
7. The release of the patient home isolation shall be as per the existing discharge protocol of the state for COVID-19.
8. The home isolation shall be with the knowledge of the family members, neighbours, treating physician and local health authorities.

    Karnataka is in 4th place with 9410 active positive case though it has less overall cases It means that the recovery rate is low in Karnataka.

    It is really difficult in understanding reason behind the rules that state keep on making.

    The state is placing NON Positive asymptotic people from Maharastra in in Institution Quarantine and positive patients in Home quarantine?

    both union and state governments failed miserably in controlling the spread of Covid.

    Union government hurried with lockdown without giving at least a week's time for people to move to their native places. During that time, the disease was in its starting stages.

    When they opened the lockdown the spreading was more. So chaiwala's team was caught on wrongfoot

    In Karnataka the team of cheddiyeddi is totally out of minds now. they are unable to control anything.

    Now only own restrictions by public and Gods help can save people.

    If time was givem for the people to move to their hometown, more cases would have appeared and that many beds were not available at that time for treatment

    it is only your assumption. It takes time for the virus to peak and spread. It was March and now we are in July.

    Its not time that virus requires to peak but the amount of people who come in contact with it. Most of the people donot wear masks or follow social distancing due to which the number of cases are increasing

    Please people follow the home quarantine rules rigidly. Don’t give the opportunity for it to be scrapped. It should be a joint effort of the family members and neighbours too.

    Excellent move. This will help hospitals to take in only those who need oxygen and ventilators. If social distancing and masks are made cumpolsory the nte Covid will be manageable.

    Looks like government is working on herd immunity otherwise why did they allow people from hotspots to enter karnataka... ? Now local cases are on the raise due improper quarantine follow up
