Kundapur, Jun 30: Two days after an SSLC student tested positive for COVID-19 in a centre at Padubidri, another student tested positive in Kundapur taluk on Tuesday June 30.
It is learnt that relatives of the student had come from Mumbai a month ago but all of them tested negative. However, on Monday night when the student complained of headache, her swab samples were sent for testing immediately. The reports which came earlier today showed positive for the virus.
The student has written three exams till now and has been advised to write the pending exams in August.
This has created fear among students appearing for the SSLC exams which is scheduled to end on July 4. The authorities concerned have said that there is nothing to fear and that all the precautionary measures in the examination halls were strictly adhered to, and it leaves no fear of students getting infected.
Additional district commissioner, Sadashiva Prabhu said that the classroom in which the student had appeared for the exam was immediately disinfected. "There is no fear of getting the infection as the classroom where she wrote the exam was disinfected yesterday," he said.
In the earlier case, the girl had appeared for two papers on June 25 and June 27 while her father tested positive. Upon concern, she was tested on Sunday, June 28 in which her report confirmed that she had contracted the infection.
Health officials have reassured that all safety protocols were being carried out and there is no need for students to opt for voluntary testing as students are less likely to get infected.
