Kundapur, Jun 27: After a tipper hit a bicycle at Kalmandi within the limits of Belur gram panchayat near Tekkatte in the taluk on Friday June 26 afternoon, a boy who was riding the bicycle was killed.
The deceased boy has been identified as Manjunath (9), son of Ganesh from Belur Kalmandi. The boy was going towards Karani from Kogebettu Kalmandi junction, when a tipper which came at a high speed from behind hit the boy's bicycle hard. The boy, who suffered grievous injuries, was taken to a private hospital at Koteshwar immediately. But he reportedly breathed his last on the way to hospital.
The tipper driver has been identified as Bhoja Poojary. A case was registered at Kota police station relating to the accident.
Manjunath was a fourth standard student of the government primary school at Nooji, Belur and was a brilliant student, it is gathered.
