Mangaluru, Jun 26: The administration of Pilikula Nisargadhama issues clarification regarding the killing of barking deer in the park by street dogs.
A press release issued by Pilikula Nisargadhama said, "On the early morning of Friday, June 26, 10 barking deer of the park died due to street dogs and domestic dogs chasing and biting them. Five barking deer were injured.
"The barking deer died after being attacked by dogs while the others got injured when they ran out of fear of the chasing dogs and hit against the compound wall of the park.
"It is suspected that the street dogs might have entered the park area through a tree that fell on the compound wall of the park due to the heavy wind in the night.
"To prevent a further incident of this kind, trees around the park that may pose danger will be removed and the height of the compound wall will be increased further. Security guards will be appointed to patrol the inside area of the park during the night,” stated the press release.
