Mangaluru, Jun 26: The administration of Pilikula Nisargadhama issues clarification regarding the killing of barking deer in the park by street dogs.

A press release issued by Pilikula Nisargadhama said, "On the early morning of Friday, June 26, 10 barking deer of the park died due to street dogs and domestic dogs chasing and biting them. Five barking deer were injured.

"The barking deer died after being attacked by dogs while the others got injured when they ran out of fear of the chasing dogs and hit against the compound wall of the park.

"It is suspected that the street dogs might have entered the park area through a tree that fell on the compound wall of the park due to the heavy wind in the night.

"To prevent a further incident of this kind, trees around the park that may pose danger will be removed and the height of the compound wall will be increased further. Security guards will be appointed to patrol the inside area of the park during the night,” stated the press release.

This happened due to the sheer negligence of the authorities. As there was a gap in the perimeter wall due to heavy rain. Nothing was done about that. Guards were fast asleep. The responsible people should be made to pay. Mainly the administrator should be held accountable. Utter disregard for his responsibility.

Please please please.. for heavens sake.. look at the foolishness of the whole story.. we are talking about dogs as of they were a pack of tigers or lions or some carnivorous animals.. every one knows that dogs are not capable of killing and eating huge animals like a deer ... what an absurd piece of news.. there is more to the story than this.. only ones capable of such harm are human beings ... someone has done all the harm and is using the poor dogs as scape goat.. live and let live people.. the planet belongs not only to us humans but to the voiceless , defenceless animals too.. can people speak up for these defenceless helpless creators please

Instead of appointing security guards and later finding them sleeping, it is better to put heat tracing cameras across the boundary. It will be economical as well as reliable . Use technology to find solutions. Pilikula administration - please wake up from slumber.

Corruption built the wall and an ineffecient administration is now talking of what they 'will' do. Not what they should have done after the incident. Give jobs based on bribes to those who lack quality education and poor values and this is what you get in a nation.

Clarification is fine but please take action against the erring staff of Pilikula. Police should be asked to investigate the matter and guilty brought to the book. Looks like the stray dogs were waiting for the tree to fall and then enter the park. Or may be dogs got an sms alert that the compound has breached due to a tree falling
