Bengaluru, Jun 19: It has come to light that over 80 private school teachers from the state who were lured by the offer to bag government jobs, paid varying amounts totalling Rs 98 lac to the person who doled out this promise. They paid Rs 2.5 lac per head to get the jobs and got fake appointment orders. In the end, they neither got the jobs nor their money back.
These teachers have now approached the police seeking justice. The private school teachers in question were issued with fake appointment orders which showed them having been absorbed for different jobs in over 10 departments in different districts through direct recruitment. They had resigned from their current jobs and were preparing to report for duty when some discreet inquiries made by them confirmed their worst fears of having been cheated.
The fraudsters have decamped with their money. A case in this connection has been registered in Doddaballapur police station and the police have begun an investigation.
Hanumantharayappa, one of the teachers who was fleeced, said that a person named Mahesh, residing at Chikkapet, Doddaballapur, had earned the trust of the teachers and promised to provide them with government employment. He collected money from the people and went away with Rs 98 lac so collected, he said. "We have lodged a complaint. The accused has switched off his cellphone," he revealed.
Deputy superintendent of police, T Rangappa, said that a case about cheating people by promising government employment has been registered and an investigation is underway.
